The Puuc in Campeche: The lost palaces

The veil of time and the jungle have kept in secret the ancient palaces of Mayan royalty. This is a journey through the lesser known precolumbian cities of Campeche: Kankí, the city of the Solar God; Xcalumkin, the place of fertile soil; Chunhuhub with its beautiful palace. Those who feel special fascination for the Mayan vestiges here will find three more reasons for wonder, exploration and encounter.

Visiting: Archaeological sites of Kankí, Xcalumkin and Chunhuhub.

Pick up: 8:00 am.

Meeting point: Hotel lobby.

Duration: 6 hrs.


Itinerary:	Meeting in the hotel lobby. Departure to Hochob. Arrival to the archaeological zone of Hochob, example par excellence of the Chenes style, with its decorated facades representing faces of the Deity of creation. Transfer and visit to Dzibilnocac to see the vestiges of the recently restored main building. Visit to Tabasqueño whose Temple Palace is in excellent state of conservation and is also an excellent example of Chenes architecture. Panoramic tour of the town of Hopelchén. Time for lunch. Visit to Tohcok, a very small but interesting site with a Palace and remains of decoration that alludes to the Mayan myth of creation. Return to Campeche.
